How to Grow in Water (Hydroponic Method):

1. If bulbs are not pre-chilled, refrigerate for several weeks before planting to encourage blooming.
2. Place bulbs in a glass vase with water just below the base of the bulb — the bulb should not sit directly in water.
3. Keep in a cool, bright location with indirect sunlight.
4. Change water regularly to keep it fresh.
5. Shoots will develop quickly, and blooms can appear as soon as the following month. Water-grown tulips are perfect for tabletops, offices, and seasonal gifts.

How to Grow in Soil (Garden Beds or Containers):

1. Wait until soil temperatures reach 60°F (15°C) or lower.
   (September–October in northern climates, October–November in southern regions.)
2. Choose a location with well-draining soil and full sun or partial shade.
3. Plant bulbs 5–7 inches deep with the pointed end facing upward.
   Space 4–5 inches apart in garden beds, or 3–4 inches apart in containers.
   In containers, bulbs may be placed slightly closer, but they should never touch.
4. Water thoroughly once after planting.
5. After blooming, allow foliage to naturally yellow and wither before removing. This helps the bulb store energy for the next season.

For hardiness zones 3–7, potted bulbs can be overwintered in a cool, unheated garage or basement.
